Wildflowers & Aerial Tram

Right now the wildflowers are at their peak just up Little Cottonwood Canyon, which is only minutes away from Castle Creek Inn.  At the top of this canyon is a place called Albion Basin and every year, at this time (mid July through mid August), the wildflowers are breath taking.  One of our favorite things to do at this time of year is to take a hike up this beautiful canyon and enjoy the scenic view of the mountains and wildflowers.

Little Cottonwood Canyon is also home for two of Utah’s ski and summer resorts. At world class Snowbird, Utah’s only aerial tramway carries visitors to the roof of the Rockies for a panoramic view from 11,000-foot Hidden Peak. One mile further is Alta. Notorious for shootings in its 26 saloons during the mining days of the 1860’s and 70’s, Alta died quickly, but livened up again in 1938 as the seat of Utah’s first ski resort

Be sure to make time in your travel plans to include this gorgeous drive, you won’t be disappointed.
