Located just 5 minutes north of our Castle, there is another unique venue where you can feel as if you have stepped back in time. Historic Wheeler Farm was first established in 1853. After changing hands a few times, it was finally bought by the Wheelers, and the land became home to a beautiful victorian farm house, animals of all kinds, a working farm, the Rose Bud Dairy, a commercial ice business, seven children and two grandchildren. Today, the farm opporates as an agricultural living history museum and outdoor recreation site. It is now a great place to attend the farmers market, visit the animals, and an exciting educational experience for children.
The folks at Wheeler Farm have a lot of fun in the fall! This site is great for family day trips, with Pumpkin Days! This October festival includes a pumpkin patch, hay bale maze, and wagon rides! There is also a Festival of Scarecrows, with locally made scarecrows displayed through out Wheeler Woods. Spooky! For the pup lovers, come to Bark-Tober Fest on Oct 28th! This is Wheeler Farms First Annual Doggie Halloween Costume Contest and Party. This is a great event to bring your four footed friends, enjoy vendors, a costume contest, and a photo booth! For the older kids and adults, or just anyone with more courage then me, there are flashlight tours of the old farmhouse on Friday nights in October and through the (slightly) haunted hay bale maze on October 25th. This is a great, family friendly, not too scary event for all of your little ghosts and goblins. Check it all out before it’s to late, all this fun ends October 31st!
