Most people in Salt Lake valley got their first snow last night! While it may have been a melted memory by this afternoon, it still hinted that winter is coming. Another sign that the chilly season is on its way? The Gallivan Center Ice Skating Rink will be opening next week! For those of you who don’t know, The Gallivan Center is a urban plaza in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City. The center has both indoor and outdoor spaces, reception and meeting venues, an amphitheater, and an array of beautifully designed art pieces. Special events such as festivals, concerts, and holiday celebrations make this a wonderful gathering place for locals and visitors alike. In the winter, a space is converted into a large, newly renovated ice skating rink! This year the first day to skate is November 13th. So bundle up in your hats and scarves and head down! Admission prices and hours are listed here. Lace up your skates, which are provided, and spend some time gliding through the crisp cool air with family and friends. The Sharpening Block is on hand if your skates are feeling a little dull, and the concession stand has snacks to keep you fueled, as well as hot chocolate to chase the chill away. I can’t think of a better way to spend a fall evening then that!
